THE CALM MUSLIM MOTHER

Understanding ADHD. Finding balance. Reconnecting with yourself and your family.

A supportive, practical programme for Muslim mothers who want to understand their ADHD, manage overwhelm and feel more confident in their motherhood journey.

You love your children. You want to be present, patient and organised. You want a home that feels calm and a family life that feels manageable.

But sometimes, despite your best intentions, everything feels overwhelming.

You struggle to keep on top of daily responsibilities. You lose track of time, forget things, find it difficult to get started and feel frustrated when your plans don't go as expected.

You may find yourself becoming overwhelmed by noise, interruptions and constant demands. You might lose your patience, feel guilty afterwards and wonder why something that seems so easy for others feels so difficult for you.

And perhaps the hardest part is the feeling that you're never quite doing enough.

What if the problem isn't that you're not trying hard enough? What if you simply need a different approach?

Welcome to The Calm Muslim Mother.

Motherhood with ADHD can feel different

Motherhood brings enormous demands on your attention, energy and emotional resources.

When you have ADHD, the everyday responsibilities of family life can become particularly challenging.

You may recognise some of these experiences:

  • Feeling overwhelmed by the never-ending mental load of running a household.

  • Struggling with routines, organisation and time management.

  • Finding it difficult to start or complete everyday tasks.

  • Feeling overstimulated by noise, interruptions and competing demands.

  • Becoming frustrated or emotionally overwhelmed with your children.

  • Struggling to balance your own needs with those of your family.

  • Feeling guilty when you lose your patience or don't meet your own expectations.

  • Finding it difficult to switch off, rest or give yourself permission to slow down.

As Muslim mothers, we may also navigate additional family, cultural and community expectations.

Sometimes we carry expectations of what a good mother, wife or daughter should look like, while quietly struggling with the realities of our own neurodivergent experience.

You are not alone in this.

And you don't have to approach motherhood by constantly fighting against the way your brain works.

Introducing The Calm Muslim Mother

A six-week educational and coaching programme designed to help Muslim mothers understand their ADHD and develop practical strategies for everyday family life.

This programme brings together ADHD education, practical coaching tools, parenting strategies and relationship support.

It is designed to help you move away from self-blame and towards greater understanding, confidence and self-compassion.

Rather than giving you another set of unrealistic routines to follow, we will explore ways to make everyday life work better for you.

What we'll explore together

1. Understanding your ADHD brain

Understand how ADHD can affect attention, organisation, motivation, memory and everyday motherhood.

Explore your individual patterns, recognise your strengths and begin to understand why certain aspects of family life feel more challenging.

2. Emotional regulation and overwhelm

Understand your emotional triggers and recognise the early signs of overwhelm.

Explore practical strategies to help you manage difficult moments, respond more intentionally and develop greater self-compassion.

3. Managing the mental load

Learn how to work with your ADHD rather than constantly relying on willpower.

Explore realistic routines, task management, prioritisation and practical systems that make running a household more manageable.

4. Parenting when you have ADHD

Understand how your own ADHD may influence your parenting experience.

Explore sensory overload, parenting triggers, emotional responses and ways to build connection with your children without expecting perfection from yourself.

5. ADHD, marriage and family relationships

Explore how ADHD can influence communication, shared responsibilities and family dynamics.

Learn practical ways to express your needs, reduce misunderstandings and create more supportive relationships.

6. Creating sustainable motherhood

Bring everything together into your own personalised ADHD motherhood plan.

Identify the strategies that work for you, recognise your support needs and develop realistic ways to maintain progress during both easier and more challenging weeks.

Meet Dr Ayiesha Malik

I'm Dr Ayiesha Malik, a GP, ADHD assessor and coach with a particular interest in supporting Muslim women and mothers.

Through my work with women, I have become increasingly aware of how ADHD can influence so many aspects of everyday life beyond the traditional symptoms we often associate with the condition.

For many mothers, ADHD affects their confidence, relationships, parenting experience, organisation and sense of identity.

I also recognise that Muslim women may navigate particular family, cultural and community expectations alongside these challenges.

I created The Calm Muslim Mother to bring together my medical background, ADHD experience and coaching work in a supportive and practical programme.

My aim is to help women better understand themselves, recognise their strengths and develop realistic strategies for navigating motherhood.

I believe that supporting mothers starts with understanding and compassion, not judgement.

How does the programme work?

Six weeks of learning, reflection and practical change.

  • Six structured learning modules.

  • Short, accessible teaching sessions.

  • Downloadable workbook and exercises.

  • Practical tools to use in everyday life.

  • Opportunities to reflect and apply what you learn.

  • A supportive learning environment.

You can work through the material at a pace that fits around your family commitments.

What will you gain?

By the end of the programme, you will have:

  • A better understanding of how your ADHD affects your everyday life.

  • Greater awareness of your emotional triggers and patterns.

  • Practical tools for managing overwhelm.

  • Strategies for creating realistic household routines.

  • A better understanding of your parenting challenges.

  • Practical approaches to communicating your needs within your family.

  • A personalised plan to support your ongoing wellbeing.

Most importantly, I want you to leave with a different understanding of yourself.

You don't need to become a perfect mother. You need support, understanding and strategies that work with your brain.

  • There's no doubt mothers love their children and want what's best for them. What we don't often realise is that journey starts with ourselves.

    --Dr Ayiesha Malik

  • “Because they only grow up once, you need to give them the best chance"

    -- Dr Ayiesha Malik

  • “Intergenerational trauma is real. Heal, so the dysfunction stops here.”

    -- Dr Ayiesha Malik

  • “You can do this. Small changes in you make big results in your child's trajectory.”

    -- Dr Ayiesha Malik
